Live centre questions

Hi,

I've inherited what was once a live centre (alt.binaries.pictures.models title live centre pix :-) ). Anyway I say it was once a live centre because the revolving bit in the middle doesn't anymore and I think it has just got gumed up through disuse. Does anyone here know a way of recovering these things from this state or is it just scrap now ? I was thinking of leaving it head down in some kind of solvent but I don't know what to use and I don't want to disolve anything inside that shouldn't be disolved :-)

Thanks,

Hi Boo,which news server has this . I have tried 6 news servers & they have plenty of the "alt.binaries.pictures.naughty" variety but none has yours.

Well, mine does ;-) But I admit that I posted that before I subscribed, and when I had subscribed I couldn't find my post because of a sequence of 290 pictures being posted on a slightly different topic ;-O I didn't know it was that kind of models did I ? :-)))

So it's probably pintless looking anyway. The live centre loks like most MT2 live centres except it has a logo which is obviously either a hawk or a swan or something. Made in CZ and carrying either a model or serial number CSN243324 1. It has two small screws set in the side of the thick bit and what looks like provision to use a "C" spammer in the face of the thick bit. I don't know the use of these 3 potential recreational fiddles though ?

I would try some diesel fuel for a start and a soft brass wire brush

Been down that route, the diesel plus miscellaneous oils plus fermented coolant grunge seem to have combined into a smeary brown goo that probably contains previously unimagined life forms! The apron glass ( are they glass?) responded fine, but the other two are obscure

Skoda. The small screws in the side, plus probably another at the small end of the taper, are for grease. The theory is you take them out, put in 'not more than 1g of Alvania2 or equiv. lithium grease, 0.5g at the end of the taper' then replace the screws & tighten.

This is routine maintenance, though, not rescuscitation.

Apart from that, you're on your own

I'm told that diesel & paraffin are much nearer to each other than they used to be. I'm sure that if diesel will be any help, paraffin will be just as much so.

Ah, well you can get one of those for £16 +a bit so it's no big deal if it can't be fixed.

Soaking it in Parafin did no good so I'm going to have to find a way of movong the face cap. Some kind of improvised C-spanner is called for i think...
