I CAME ACROSS A LITERATURE THAT SAYS THAT WHN A PLY IN A LAMINATE FAILS...THE FAILED PLY CAN CONTINUE TO CARRY THE LOAD IN OTHER PARTS OF THE LAMINATE.
THE REASON THEY GAVE WAS WHEN ONE PLY FAILS THE FAILURE IS LOCALIZED BY ITS ADJACENT PLIES THROUGH THEIR HIGH STIFFNESS CONSTRAINT AND HIGH PLY INTERFACE BONDING STRENGTH. WHAT DO THEY MEAN BY THIS ?...CAN ANYONE PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME.
