hand painting? me? uh, maybe in a couple of years... is the kit current? my doctor is way cool and wants a model of the plane that takes him home. in the phil air markings. since he treats my hands that makes the models....seems only fair.

that sounds big. and expensive. the 1/100 sounds like a good size.

Bear in mind, that the 1/100 Doyusha is a 747-100 or 747-200 with the old Pratt & Whitney JT9D engines. (Philippines used General Electric CF-6-50, although they leased some P&W versions from time-to-time)

Revell make a 1/144 747-400 with the correct GE CF-6-80 engines, and Philippine decals are available. (Airways Graphics A4-059 / Liveries Unlimited LU4059)

Hasegawa makes a 1/200 747-400 also with the correct GE engines. (Airways Graphics A2-010 / Liveries Unlimited LU2010 - very rare!)

Cheers!

Scott.

Boeing makes a pretty nifty 1/1 scale model. I haven't read any reviews, but I think it should be pretty accurate. The price is a bit high though.

Darn right! I've got a 747 under restoration and am building a B-17 in

1/144. It's a jaw dropping experience to set one next to the other.

Very close to 1/100, depending on how accurately you measured. A

747's wingspan is 211' 5".

British Airways used to sell inflatable 747s, I've got one hanging off the ceiling, wingspan is about 4 feet at a guess, does that count?

Thanks, Al.

1/100 is pretty much what I had it figured at, especially after comparing it to the vacuformed 1/72 scale kit.

The Singapore Airlines markings are sure pretty.
