CAR: 1949 Chevy Fleetside Deluxe 2-door? 1/24th or 1/25th

I am pretty sure that it was never done in plastic, but maybe in resin? Or any ideas on how to build one? My dad recently bought a customized 2 door, chopped top, 305 engine, Mustang II suspension, etc. Would like to build a copy of it for him. thanks, russ

You mean "Fleetline", right? AMT made a '51 which should be easy to convert, especially since you're doing a custom.

Maybe so, I get confused easily these days. Thanks, russ

"Fleetline" was the name Chevy used for their fastback sedans, which body was virtually unchanged from 1949-52, except for the shape of the rear fenders, and minor revisions of the grille. If you are going to do a model of a highly customized '49, then the '51 should work pretty well, as you won't be all that concerned with detail accuracy for a factory stock car.

"Fleetside" was the name used by Chevrolet on their full-width-bed pickup trucks starting in 1960, used the name out into the 1990's.

I would love to find a rag top as it was my dads first new car

Look no farther than Welly, the diecast outfit! Welly makes a pretty decent pair of 50 Chevies, the Bel Air HT and Convertible. The only difference between

49 and 50 Chevy is placement of some minor trim, nothing else.

AMT did the '51 convertible, too. Conversion to a '49 should be all that difficult since they were pretty much the same cars.
