somewhat off topic

There was a story on the telly last night (Fri) about a guy that jumped from a plane, and jetted across the English Channel. I missed the very beginning of the story but it sounded like his 4 small jets and wing contraption weighed in at about 100 lbs. and he reached top speed of 185 mph! It sounded like a rather interesting trip!

Enzio, do you have anymore info?

i would want more of a hot rod with more range. 400mph for an hour would work. vegas in 20 minutes.....yeah, yeah, yeah. maybe a good windshield for them pesky birds. whanging a pigeon could dent the whole day.

Yeah, Yves Rossi, a cross between Buzz Lightyear and the Rocketeer! He wants to start selling those rigs. I'd love one, but I doubt that you'd ever see them in the US of Politically Correct A. "Too dangerous for the common a$$hole on the street; we need you around to keep on paying your fair share!" However, I ~can~ see the Pentagon getting interested in these; It'd give a whole new meaning to the term "Airborne Infantry"...... When's the 1:12 scale model coming out?

Actually, I could see these becoming very easily incorporated into the skydiving crowd in the USA. Expensive, given what the engines cost, but generally no different than an ultralight or a paraglider. Or the wing suits skydivers are jumping right now - just powered.

I think I saw something awhile ago that various US specialist types were expressing interest as an insertion tool. They could be airdropped further away and carry a somewhat larger load with them.

not me, i want a twisty grip that goes from idle to warp speed. sure, i want some protection, but i still want the wind in my face. kinda like needing woosh sounds in a vacum, or hearing explosions.

I just put new tires on the gray mule yesterday, and now I've got a wobble at 75 and up mph. Funny thing is, I couldn't make it happen once I got off 14 and onto 178...so I don't know if it's the tire or the road. Last time I had one this bad it disappeared at the next tire change...so I guess I'll go road test again and then it may be back for another front.

It's a bite, that's for sure. The bike's really running well except for this wiggle...I need to punch it on some smooth road and maybe I'll see it's the road...but it should damp out. Gotta bleed off some brake fluid, too...got new front pads and the lever is way too stiff/touchy.

front discs are a pain but worth it when they're done in.

Yeah - I use the snot out of my front (hence the need for pads) but I gotta dial 'em so I don't have to two-finger 'em...and so that there's enough travel to get the brake light to come on without having to vise-grip.
