Just don't submit any key proprietary product models.

Sorry, I don't believe much in the ability of people to keep things confidential, except when all parties deal with each other openly one on one, and make personal committments. There are no absolutes, but one on one trust seems best.

Has there actually been a real problem with this?

Paul,

What's the issue here? I kind of figure that if they see something that is unusual that I have created then by all means, make sure that future versions handle it properly.

Or was this a "tongue-in-cheek" comment? :-)

I just had a TIC. Most people that read the comment thought I was talking about confidentiality.

Let's see if I can reword it a bit:

Any other use of these files is strictly prohibited without prior written consent from ....your company name here.... without a firm commitment from SW as to when the problem will be corrected. Would you take your car to the garage if they simply used it to make better cars for all of us in the future with no promise of when they would fix it? The fact is automakers don't get half the feedback from repair facilities and they still manage to make better cars year after year.
