QUESTION: Rendering in Maxwell using CPU's on the network

Has anybody tried this? According to their website a normal license will allow rendering on up to 4 CPUs. In my case I want to run on the unused core of a dual core when SW is running on the other core. The OS in all cases is XP. This is only for rendering and the rendering will not be taking place on the machine that creates the model.

I think it should be possible to use one core for sw and 1 for maxwell.

License comes for using 4 cpus in total and the network rendering worked on previous beta releases, but on the current beta release i believe it has been disabled.

However having said that, SW exports the geometry and it is rendered in a standalone version of maxwell that you can open using the dos prompt if you feel nostalgic. So once the exporting has happened, I think it should be possible to assign Maxwell to one core only. Best to email maxwell direct to get the correct information, because I am really only a causual user when it comes to how a computer works.

I am thinking of getting a wireless network harddrive that I can save my Maxwell file to it and then pick it off the drive using aother machines and let it render elsewhere.

I was hoping that when using it networked that I could choose to select only one core on four different dual core machines so as not to disturb the user.

I had the network rendering working in the Beta, it's disabled in the current Release Candidate.

It should be possible to assign a Maxwell Process to a different thread / core.
