You could try using the "spline on surface" command ( would have to do one for each surface ), combining them into a curve, then making a split line that surrounds the offending area. Then use the split line boundary to create a surface that will allow you to remove the section. You can then use the surfacing tools to create a surface thats more to your liking. A surface-fill, with constraint curves, may give you the asthetics you are after.

There is probably an easier way, but I think this will get you where you wish to go.
