Suppress sketch, not mate

Ok, tell me if I'm a total idiot here and never did see this one.

What I found in 2005, and also verified in 2004 & 2003, is that if you have a part in an assy mated to a sketch that is sitting there in the assy (skeleton) and you suppress the sketch, the mate is still active. This seems to fly in the face of the fact that suppressed parts also let go of their mates. They aren't destroyed, but they are not holding the part, either.

Freaky. I've never noticed it either. Probably because I'm unlikely to suppress a sketch I've mated too. I assume you're filed an Rx on it....

The one that kills me is mates with "invalid" references that just stop working without showing an error.

Thought I was loosing the rest of my marbles. I have noticed that some assemblies that were fine last month now have mate errors. Upon editing the mate I always find one of the two mate references has been lost. Haven't figured out if its me or the software. I know what my wife would say!
