Mate References

Has anybody ever been able to get the "Mate Reference" to work with 2 or 3 different mates? Aside from doing the standard screw, bolt, washer or nut mated to a round hole.

What I'm trying to set up is a mate reference for a Hex Rivnut into a hex hole. Getting the underside of the head mated to the surface of the part is a no brainer, but trying to get a second and/or a third mate to work with the first one just doesn't want to work. I set up an axis in the hex hole and an axis in the rivnut but it just doesn't find the mate when it's setup in the secondary mate reference. I was also trying to do a parallel mate with one of the flats of the hex on the rivnut to one of the flats of the hex hole, in the third or tertiary mate. This one didn't work either.

Does anybody have any suggestions on how to get this to work.........at all?

Thanks, Richard

IIRC, a matching mate reference with a similar name needs to exist on the matching part. I'm trying to remember now if 05 can include a mate reference in a library feature. I don't think it can.
