Such is the friendly nature of this NG that on more than one occasion I have been offered bits and bobs I sought FOC, and indeed I have made similar offers to others. If I'm picking the parts up I generally proffer a few bottles of beer by way of thanks, or if by post, stick a fiver in an envelope. But in the case of some Norman parts which arrived yesterday there was no return address and while I could no doubt have found one fairly easily, Helen suggested that I make a small donation to one of the engine museums instead. This seems like an excellent idea, perhaps I am being more than usually dim and it is already widely practised, but if not, may I put it forward as the 'standard' NG method of handling such transactions.
