How well would a plasma cutter work against the enamel on a cast iron tub?

I don't know about the enamel, never tried it. I think it'd handle it ok if the cut were made from the outside, although a bit of a weave might be necessary.

Yeah, a maul is the way to break an iron tub.. there's some big individuals here though, I've used a 16 lb. maul but it was quite a bit too big for me, 12 lb. is as big as I want to use for any length of time..

Put a come-along across the top of the tub, and apply as much tension as you can. If that doesn't break it, the hit it with a sledge.

I wouldn't do that. You don't want to be anywhere near a cable when it lets go for whatever reason. The sledge is the way to go in this case. Come alongs are not really meant to "apply as much tension as you can" especially in an uncontrolled situation.

Indeed..thats a scary suggestion. Particularly in a small area.
