Flux for brazing - what a difference

Awhile ago I posted a query regarding Petersons flux. It arrived last week and I used it yesterday. What a difference.

Prior to this I used the blue flux coated rods. They worked, kinda. After the first use, the flux always melted back leaving an inch or two of exposed rod. With the exposed end of the rod dipped in the Petersons blue flux the bronze flowed nicely into the joint. I'll have to be more careful the next time, the pressure of the flame actually blew the bronze farther than I'd seen it do before.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ That has always happened to me with flux coated rod. First use is okay, and after that it's like working with bare rod.
