To silver solder a bare steel part to a parkerized part do you have to remove the parkerizing first? And is a special flux required?

I'm assuming that you're working with a firearm. Any time I have silver soldered anything to a firearm, I found it neccessary to remove the finish to get a good bond. The solder I used comes with a special acid based flux in a liquid form that works very well. Might have been…
