Thanks for the offer, there is a technical glitch of some sort that I cannot see the web site, I have no problems getting to any other web, just this one. I've been emailing with my ISP and Steve Stallings, but no resolution so far. My ISP says that Steve's DSL provider is where the problem is. There are many things I want from the dropbox, I'll wait for now. Thanks anyway.

No such thing as dumb questions. Only dumb answers.

Like my grade 11 math teacher. Ran into a differential equation in a book I was reading. I knew how to differentiate and a wee bit of integration but couldn't solve this one. I took it to my teacher who cancelled the d's and said "hmpf, it's easy." Last time I ever asked him a question.

Since you are already well on the way, work on getting comfortable with both. There are sometimes positions/jobs where one will be much easier than the other.

Wel I usually do travel my hand along to keep pace with the torch, but I couldn't really do a pan with the camera on my own hand by myself.

What I was showing was that the filler is added in a tapping motion.

Not too weird. It is best to learn to use either hand. It keeps your options open.

I just figured it was metalworking.com's problem. I think the site is run by a very few volunteers. I *try* to be patient with volunteer workers. In any event, I can see the index but when I click on the links I get an empty page with a place holder for the file. That has got to be the cat's a$$ (meow) to see the Tig Master doing his thing. I can't wait! Next, how about some Migging? (Silicon/Bronze?) ;^)

Sadly, the truth is this :

While getting a Degree in Physics, another in Mathematics and multiple majors and minors in a M6 program I was called in by the Math dept. head to stand in the secondary education math class. (I got a shot at the primary one - worse) - These were, less one, well meaning people about my age that couldn't balance a check book or so it seemed. Simple math and math techniques were the day - some linear, some stats, some this and that.

For the most part - none ever had to teach a day of math, but just in case, they were ready ! - Most schools hired math majors if they could be found. Some didn't or couldn't. This was the time of great technical expansion - NASA was a steam roller etc.

definately right eye dominant. Always shot gallery with the left eye scotch tape on the glasses trick.

At a teacher-parent thing at my son's elementary school, I asked the "math" teacher what they were covering. A brief description followed (which I forget). I asked if they'd done anything with negative numbers yet. The reply was, "What do you mean?"

I replied, "Numbers less than zero."

Her reply, "That's not possible."

There was a saying at university where I was an undergrad: If you flunk out of Science or Engineering, you can go into Arts. If you can't make it there, you can go into Commerce. If that's too much for you, there's always Education.

Regretably there's a lot of truth in that.

Oh man, that sure beats my method of holding the filler in your mouth and pushing out with your tongue. Boy that HF start can make your teeth rattle!

But seriously, a great idea, I must try it because almost all of my TIGing is done with 1mm filler on 0.7-1.2mm sheet. It's a real pain having to try and reposition the filler rod in your hand when you've:

a. got no peripheral vision because your helmet's on

b. got limited dexterity because even the thinnest of TIG gloves compromise your sense of touch.

c. are working with three feet of really floppy (thin) filer rod.

Why? I'm left eye *very* dominant. Shoot bow and rifle with left eye. It's a bugger with a right hand bolt.

This works fine. I can advance the filler smoothly. I find I am actually rolling the filler rod between my thumb and index to advance the filler. I am using 1/16" filler rod.

Ernie, the .mp4 files never seem to have made it to the drop box. Any chance you could try again to post them?

Thanks,

Andy

I just tried sending them again, and got no response at all this time. I don't know what is going on with the dropbox.

I will try emailing the admin

Did you click on the .mov versions or the .mp4 versions? The .mov (quick time) versions are definitely in the drop box, but I can't find hide nor hair of the .mp4 versions. I guess I may have to break down and install quick time ...
