DuBro fuel tank

Anybody else have problems with the fuel line included with a DuBro fuel tank? I built this plane a year and a half ago and just started having fuel draw problems. Then no fuel draw past 1/3 tank, klunk line tubing pulled off the brass tube, right?

Actually the fuel tube in the tank had turned to goo and broken in two! There is no doubt this was a nitro tank, the DuBro tanks say if you want to run gasoline you must provide your own gasoline compatible line and bung. But here it is a year and a half later and the tube that came with the tank has turned to snot.

I know better and usually replace the stock tube with quality stuff but this time I didn't and look where it got me.

I have used Dubro tanks for decades without the problem that you described. However, it is possible that someone at Dubro ordered the wrong tubing, screwed up the formulation of the tubing at the tubing manufacturer, etc. I wouldn't trash Dubro products just because of this one incident. They have produced top notch R/C accessories for a long, long time. It just goes to show you that any manufacturer can have something slip by from time to time.

Not at all what I meant to say Ed. I've also DuBro tanks for years and will continue to use them. As a matter of fact, I just installed a brand new DuBro to replace the one that had the problem. But I did replace the tubing just in case.

I was just wondering if anyone else had had a similar problem recently.

My mistake. Sorry for misreading you.

You didn't have any acetone in the fuel, did you?

What percentage of nitro are you using in the tank where the clunk line failed?

The only thing that's ever been run in that tank was 15% Cool Power. The external lines are still fine.

I've been using these same tanks and fuel for years with no problems. It was really a surprise.

A lot of common fuel line won't last much over a year with frequent exposure to both fuel then air. I generally replace the tubing in my fuel jug every 8 months, the bits exposed to the surface of the fuel most tend to goo up and crumble. I assume it's the cyclic exposure to fuel then air.....or somesuch.
