Simple Green on sale @ Lowe's

For those of you who use Simple Green to clean your R/C vehicles (I use a

1:1 solution of Simple Green and Denatured alcohol myself) and live in America, Lowe's has 1 gallon (128oz) of concentrate on sale right now for $8.97. The 32oz bottles are $3.87 to give you a point of reference. I bought two gallons as I use it as an automotive degreaser and general purpose cleaner in the garage as well as on my R/C stuff.. If the stores are set up the same way nationwide, there's an endcap display with the gallons at the "front" of the household cleaner aisle.

Now if they'd only have a deal like that on Denatured alcohol........................

The only use I have found for Simple Green is when I want to put a sticky slime on something.

Betcha your formula would work much better if you left out the Simple Green.

Hey guys, I've been using Simple Green and car window washer fluid with great success and it leaves very little smearing. However I only add about 5% Simple Green to the window washer fluid since the stuff is very strong and you don't need that much. You can also try experimenting with Windex as well or a combination of all 3, but bottom line is don't use too much of the Simple Green.

Simple Green cut 10:1 with water does indeed work as a good model cleaner. Cheers -- \_________Lyman Slack________/ \_______Flying Gators R/C___/ \_____AMA 6430 LM____ / \___Gainesville FL_____/ Visit my Web Site at

Ah-ha! 10:1 ! I guess I didn't dilute it enough. I've been a victim of the "if a little bit works...more is better" syndrome!

Sounds like a doable and cheap formula. I'll try it!

Have you ever tried it with denatured alcohol as the dilutent? I haven't experienced the "sticky slime" to which you refer even using my 1:1 mix.

No, Doc, I haven't. I'll have to give that a try.

Those using Windex, or its equivalent, be aware that anything containing ammonia is not good for the majority of plastic coverings and will dull its finish eventually.

If onlly my planes lasted long enough to dull the finishes upon them.

Rock on, Ed.

I think I cut it 1:1. I'll try the 10:1 mix. Thanks for chiming in, Lyman.

Simple Green and alcohol? What a terrible idea! The Alcohol will discolor the aluminum of your engine, and SG will eat at it!

Oh do tell.......................we've been using this mixture with nitro r/c land vehix for ages (unlike your planes, our vehicles actually get dirty). Never seen it discolor anything or "eat" anything either. Cuts thru castor slime like there's no tomorrow and leaves a nice shine on aluminum and plastic/nylon parts alike. Doesn't touch polycarb paint or Lexan either.

Don't knock it till you've tried it, and I doubt you've tried it.
