Is the new tool changer machine really that cheap or am I missing something?

I can't speak to the new tool changer printer since I don't own one and the details aren't fully out yet, so I'd be careful about budgeting based on forum guesses. But I can tell you how Bambu has handled this historically, because it matters for your planning. thier base…

I've been saving up for a bigger enclosed printer for months and honestly budgeting way more than what I'm seeing people quote for the new one with the tool changer. I figured a multi-material setup like that would cost double what my X1C did, easy. So what's the catch? Is the build volume smaller than it looks, or does the multi-filament unit come seperate and push the real total way up? I keep seeing folks say it undercuts the big boys by a mile but nobody's showing a full cart screenshot. Also curious if anyone knows if the tool heads are sold individually or only as a bundle. My use case is mostly PLA and PETG with the occasional TPU, so I don't want to pay for four extruders if I only ever need two. Any guesses on when preorders actually open would help me plan my budget too, because if the total really lands near what I've saved I might just pull the trigger day one.

I can't speak to the new tool changer printer since I don't own one and the details aren't fully out yet, so I'd be careful about budgeting based on forum guesses. But I can tell you how Bambu has handled this historically, because it matters for your planning. thier base prices have ussually been the actual price you pay. With my X1C I paid the listed amount, no hidden add-on that doubled it. The catch with their stuff has never really been price, it's been support turnaround and how much of the ecosystem you get locked into, which for most people is fine.

Same boat here, I had a savings target set way higher than what my cart actually came to when I grabbed my P1S with the AMS last year. What helped me plan was watching the official store page rather than forum chatter, since accessories tend to show up there before preorders even open. On the spare tool head question, when I looked for extra hotends they were sold separately, so I'd guess individual parts will be available too, but I'd wait for the actual spec sheet before assuming anything about how many extruders you really need for just PLA and PETG.

Following this since I'm in a similar spot but coming from a cheap bedslinger, so an enclosed multi-material machine would be my first real upgrade. My worry is more the running costs than the sticker price, filament and spare parts add up fast. Did anyone factor in wether you need a dedicated circuit or anything for it? Probably overthinking that but my garage wiring is old. Also hoping the AMS-style boxes work with filaments I alredy have open, half my spools are third party.

Same surprise here when I bought mine a while back. I'd budgeted for all these add-ons in my head and then the total came in way under what I'd planned, which felt almost suspicious. One thing I'd factor in is shipping and any taxes depending on where you're ordering from, that's the part that snuck up on me. Also if you're mostly doing PLA and PETG anyway, you might not need the whole multi-tool setup on day one, easier to add later than buy it all upfront and let half of it sit. Waiting on actual store pricing before committing sounds like the smart move honestly.

For what it's worth, the TPU angle is the one that changed things for me. I used to keep a second cheap printer around just for flexible stuff because it jammed constantly in the AMS, then I found out running TPU through the direct drive path on its own, slow and dry, works fine. So if the new machine lets you run one tool head for flexibles, two might genuinely be all you need. Guessing on preorders is risky though, Bambu has surprised me both early and late on release timing.

Update: took the advice about watching the store page directly and set up a notification for when anything new drops there. Also started a rough spreadsheet with shipping and taxes added on top, since one of you mentioned that's what snuck past you last time. Quick question though, for those who upgraded from a basic machine, how much extra did monthly filament and spare parts acutally run you compared to what you expected?
