Code violations ?

I live in an apartment complex. while walking around I noticed a number of violations, mainly buried romex in a number of locations that is showing. I think they buried it an inch or two deep and the covering has eroded.

Who would you report these violations to and would they do anything about it ?

Also is there any part of the code that requires electric to be in gray conduit as apposed to white ?

Electrical PVC is is a grey color. White is for water and is not rated for electrical work. Having said that many people use white pvc for sleeves.

There is a romex made for direct bury called UF cable.

It is up to you if you report the issues or not. Calling the authorities may just increase your rent. Telling the managment might or might not be a good idea. Depending on how much greif you like. If it is really important to you then consider moving.

Are you sure it's not UF cable?
