Frequency Inverter - increasing 50Hz to 60Hz

Nov 18, 2007 1 Replies

I have a 400v 5.5kW 4 pole motor driven via a frequency inverter at

50Hz. If I increase the frequenecy to 60Hz, the rpm will increase but how much more power (kW0 will the motor draw?? Is is just another 20% reflecting the 20% increase in frequency??

It is not a simple question. The answer will depend more on the torque-speed characteristics of the load than anything else. Less magnetizing current will be drawn. Depending on how the motor was designed, the magnetic losses can be higher or lower.
