Gas powered engine & genset are supplied by methane (biogas) through a 150mm diameter stainless steel pipe. The pipe run is about 60 metres, and the pipe flanges are rubber, although there may be spiral wound gaskets in some places. There appears to be an absence of earth bonding on the stainless steel pipework and supports. My questions are as follows: What are the earthing is requirements (UK) for this type of installation? Does earthing need to be installed to reduce risk due to static build up in pipe? Does earthing need to be connected back to main earth, and if so, would this increase the likelyhood of introducing electrical system fault currents into the pipework?
