relay for light bulb

Jul 11, 2008 1 Replies

If I wanted to use a relay to turn on a light bulb, should I get a rating for the bulb's instantinous current; i.e. turn-on from cold or it's quiescent current?

TIA

Continous current should be OK. The transient is so fast that it shouldn't have any appreciable effect on heating of the contacts.
