I've heard talk of delta, star, line to line, Square root of 3, etc. on this NG.
what do these terms really mean and what are their advantages?
Anybody run across some good on-line info on this subject?

3 Phase.
The term "star-delta" usually refers to a starting configuration for a 3 phase motor. The motor starter applies a "star" (wye) during the initial energization of the motor. After a period of time, the starter switches over to the "delta" configuration.
