saltwater exposure, Titans, Schlages, and Kwiksets

Greetings I request your advice:

Buildings by the Atlantic Ocean. Kwiksets rotting out quickly. Older Schlages look OK as do some Titans. Would pitch old Kwiksets and go with what Kwikset is now calling previous Titan line (Ultra, I believe) but I am unclear if these can be keyed like the new Schlages with relative ease.

So: how easy is keying the new Ultras to existing Schlages -- and what do you say about Schlage quality these days (considering salty air exposure)? Is it sagging as I have heard?

Thanks!

Go for the A lock with the lifetime finish. The finish will probably fail but then you get shiny new door knobs. The "ultra" finish is supposedly some super whiz bang stuff, but you might also consider the old advise of either the oil rubbed bronze or the chrome for maximum finish durability.

Somewhere in the Schlage web site there is a recommendation to use chrome or nickel next to salt.

So how is cross-keying between the Ultra and the Schlage using the provided cylinders?

Thanks again.

"Ultra" is just the type of coating applied over the brass to prevent corrosion. The locks remain the same so they will key up no problem.

The residential Schlage is not as good as it once was but it's still fantastic compared to the other two.
