Aluminum alloy 5083 annealing

Feb 09, 2004 1 Replies

In order to lower as much as possible internal stresses, increasing dimensional stability on heavy sections (continuous casting plates) in alloy 5083, I am going to perform the following annealing treatment:

- Temperature: 650°F / 343°C

- Time: 1 hour per inch thickness to reach temperature plus 1 hour soaking at temperature. Can anyone suggest anything better?
