produces quality research services, leading research programs, and internationally recognised research training in microscopy and microanalysis. It serves as national headquarters of the new Australian Microscopy and Microanalysis Research Facility. The Key Centre recognises the substantial role that microscopy and microanalysis is set to play in the next decade, as biotechnology and nanoscience have increasing impact on science and society. Consequently, we are seeking to appoint three outstanding microscopists to support the growing numbers of projects of the national research community. These exciting positions require a commitment to technical excellence and offer great opportunities to get involved in a range of research projects across disciplines and faculty boundaries. All positions are full-time fixed term for 3 years.

Light & Laser Imaging Specialist (105470)

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated person with substantial expertise in light/optical microscopy and excellent interpersonal skills to manage and co-ordinate our light and laser optical facilities. Working with students, researchers and academics, the appointee will independently operate and teach users confocal and light microscopy.

Biomolecular Imaging Specialist (105466)

This appointee will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the advanced molecular biology preparation and cell culture laboratories, and a suite of live cell imaging platforms. S/he will support correlative microscopy projects, combining molecular, live cell, and cryo specimen preparation and imaging.

Advanced TEM Specialist (105463)

We invite applications from candidates with a strong and broad background in three-dimensional electron microscopy, including the preparation of cells, tissues and nanomaterials, and use of cryo techniques, to be part of a new and exciting microscopy portfolio in the AKCMM. S/he will interact with users on specific projects and undertake research related to 3D-EM (cryo) imaging and analysis techniques.
