cured copper

OMG this is hilarious. Autymn (sp?) is a complete moron. As an electrical engineer, I can tell you with 100% certainty that all electric heaters are 100% efficient. And efficiency is the ratio of output to input (power out/power in, in the case of heat generating appliances the inherent efficiency is 100%. In gas appliances the efficiency can range UPTO about 95% for the newer 'ultra high efficiency furnaces' as long as combustion air is supplied from an unheated source [that is why you have 2 pipes going outside from the furnace- 1 for combustion air and 1 for combustion gasses to be vented]. No gas appliance is 100% efficient. ) Efficiency of heating units DOES NOT DEPEND ON ROOM CONSTRUCTION. The lack of ability of the room to contain the heat does not affect the output rating of the heater, thus the efficiency is not changed. (Input is ALWAYS the same no matter what). So autymn (sp?) why don't you do some research on a reliable source (wikipedia is not considered reliable because it can be altered by anyone without regard for their qualifications).

On November 5, 2008 the Consumer reports blog took a shot at the EdenPure with a post titled =93Are EdenPure space heaters just a lot of hot air?=94

could equally well have titled it =93Throwing your money down the Eden Sewer=94

The EdenPure print ads this year for the GEN3 version (October 2008 AARP Bulletin, etc.) are hilariously bad. The sixth paragraph contains two adjacent sentences that flatly contradict each other. =93The advanced space-age EdenPURE Quartz Infrared Portable Heater also heats the room evenly, wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling. And, as you know, portable heaters only heat an area a few feet around the heater.=94 They made this nonsense by editing their copy with a tomahawk. The web site still has the fairy tale about cured copper:

The EdenPURE is an extremely dubious product which exploits the =93boom box=94 or =93console radio=94 fallacy. Some people think that anything in a big cabinet that costs over ten times more than a $30 1500 watt space heater from WalMart, TSC, etc. obviously must be much better. Actually the only difference is that the big cabinet separates the heating elements from anything flammable outside, so it is harder to accidentally start a fire. The EdenPURE also can be used as a very ugly plastic end table.

In October 2007 Consumer Reports tested the previous generation of EdenPURE and gave it a dismal rating.
