4" air grinder tooling?

Question

My angle grinder collection has increased again. A retired plumber gave me 2 Makita 4" grinders, and a friend of a friend gave me a 4" air grinder made by Husky. Coincidentally, these use the same 10mm spindle thread. I can buy grinding wheels and even Makita brand flap wheels locally, but the prices are ruinous compared to what I pay for comparable tooling with 5/8-11 spindle threading.

I looked on ebay, but either I'm losing my touch or nobody's selling this stuff.

Does anyone have a good source for 10mm threaded grinder/sander tooling (grinding wheels, wire wheels, flap disks ..) with good pricing?

I can always just let this stuff go. I have already used the little Forney converters to swap 2 of them to 5/8-11 spindles, but 4" tooling with 5/8-11 spindles isn't easy to come by either.

Osborn make M10 wire brushes. They might make flap wheels too, but I'm not certain. They have an operation somewhere near Tom in the US, but they likely don't make metric stuff there. They might be costing you more because the demand is low in the USA.

The grinding wheels that I buy don't come with a thread attached. They just have a hole which fits onto a hub which is coated with some kind of hard rubber, and are secured by a threaded retaining ring. So if your grinder is the same, I think the worst you'd need to do for grinding wheels would be to get a replacement hub.

What model is the grinder? I have a Makita 9523NB and it's very good. If yours is the same model I'd say it's definitely worth getting the disks and brushes to go with it. I can get them at a decent price here in England, so if you want them really badly, let me know and I'll see what it would cost to ship them over.

Makita sells the 3 little threaded disks that you need to run sanding, grinding, and cutting wheels. Some come with the unit, the others run about $6 or so. Allows you to run all the various 4" and 4" grinding disks and sandpaper disks with plain centers.Grant Erw

I do 4" knot wheels and 3" knot cups in any thread and wire you need.  There are two 10mm threads, make sure you let me know the pitch.

In case anyone wondered, Tawm makes the good ones. It's the imports which are real crap. Anyone who has used an import wire cup brush has the pincushion wounds to show for it, too. --- Chaos, panic, and disorder--my work here is done.

Thanks Larry, in reality it's hard to make crap. Low quality wire is hard to work with. I had a contract with Sherwin Williams and they wanted less, cheaper wire in the brush (Can you believe that?) so their customers would throw them away after one job. I couldn't/wouldn/t do it. China did!
