I will be looking at a bridgeport miller in the next few days. The owner doesn't know a whole lot about the mill but he says it has a large knee? what does that mean?

--Maybe it's got more than the normal amount of Y-axis travel. Sounds like it might be a Webb and not a Bridgeport.
Bridgeport mills were (are?) made with two different lengths of y travel, 9" and 12", so some have a longer knee (coming out from the mill) than others. That's probably what he means. There are also different table lengths (36"-42" I think) so he could be refering to that.

He must mean the 12" knee travel, he said a machinist told him it had the larger knee. The mill has a 42" table with power feed, 1HP J head and a phase converter. $1400. Sound fair?
Good price. But, of course, condition is everything. With today's low market, I'd only buy the nice stuff.

In good shape..very fair. Little short on HP for the size..but doable. Thats a step pully head btw..Best thing to do for this is get a VFD and put the belts on the second step and lock it down.
