Cutters to identify and sell off

I just found myself owning a couple dozen cutters. Maybe they are called mills? Cutting wheels? Rotary file? Some what like a cutting wheel on a key duplicator. But bigger, and heavier. And square ended, not angled like a key duplicator. These would fasten on to the end of a shaft, and cut a groove in a piece of work metal.

Machinist thing, various diameter and thickness, from about 3 to 7 inch diameter, and ranging from half to three or so inches thick. A couple of them still have the wax on them, so they are new.

Who can help me figure out what these are worth? I had a look on the net, but can't find anything like this. Maybe I am using the wrong name? Maybe there is an online store that sells round things with teeth that cut metal?

And how to sell them off for money? They got to be worth something to someone.

Go to ebay and look at completed auctions for end mills, face mills and shell mills.

Also try spelling of endmill, etc.

See if they look like what you have. Bidders will want to know if they are sharp, the cutting diameter and the shank diameter. Also whether they are steel or carbide.

notice he didn't get his $499 for it. Looks like most of the cutters go bout $25 to $50 per cutter. I didn't see any that looked like what i found, but I'll keep looking.

I *THINK* this group is set up, so that you don't have to join the group to see the pictures. Let me know if I'm mistaken, please.

A search on Ebay seems to show that mills go in the $25 to $50 range.

The wax does not necessarily mean that they are new, just resharpened. Try side milling cutters. They arent worth too much any more unless you need a certain one. They are measured by diameter, width and hole size.

I bought all the used horizontal milling cutters I should ever need for $1 to $5 each from used-machinery dealers, and the ones I left on the shelf stayed there for years.

They are quite easy to resharpen on a surface grinder, if you have one, but having them sharpened can get expensive.

Yes! That's an excellent illustration of what I've got. At least, a couple of them.

Buck a piece? Well, sounds like I won't make enough to retire and live a life of ease in Austria after all. Sigh.

He would explain some detail of ionospheric reflection or such and then tell us which antenna out on the front lawn he had used to originally measure it.
