help: HF Compressor Drainer Kit

Based on the recommendations of folks who regularly read this group I got the Harbor Freight automatic compressor drainer kit.

I am not an idiot (at least not proven) but I must confess the hook up manual left more questions than answers!

For those of you who installed the gadget, please share the correct answers to the following questions:

1) The "Auto Drain Assembly" was attached loosely in the box. I attached it firmly. (the part that has the rubber diaphragm in it) I assume that was okay, right?

2) The hole in the "Auto Drain Assembly" should be facing down, yes? No?

3) What the heck do you fasten to the "Auto Drain" tubing????? The manual says it should be connected to either the (a) Discharge line unloader, or (b) Combination tank check valve and discharge line unloader, UNLESS you connect it in line with (3a) a vented pessure switch, (3b) Pilot valve, or (3c) Receiver pressure unloader. Is it necessary to hook this tubing up? I'm not sure I've got any of the above stuff.... And ironically enough, I've got the very unit they show on the manual - NOT hooked up of course...

Thanks for the insight... Informed suggestions welcomed... Sarcasm tolerated... Those just blowing smoke... (gosh how will I tell?)

Picked up a couple of these on closeout at the local HF for $6 ea. Looked on the shelf and they had a stack of new ones(same item number)but made in China instead of Taiwan....Paul
