Lennox high tension hack saw tool review

The tensioner allows me to tune the blade like a guitar string, but in steps if I want to fold the tensioner handle out of the way.

With a Starret 18 tpi bi-metal blade tuned up to about middle C, I got through a 1.5" round piece of 60-61 Aluminum in 1 minute 15 seconds with ~100 strokes.

I got the new hack saw as an alternative to buying a metal cutting band saw, as it is cheaper, more portable, and takes up less shop space. It is not nearly as fast, easy, and accurate as my brother's Jet band saw, but I don't cut thick metal but once a month.

Be careful of the lock mechanism, my plastic one broke and I have a cotter pin in a drilled hole now. Maybe they fixed this on newer ones.

this sound like an improvement. the Craftsman/Stanley tension is not quick, a bit of a pain, actually. maybe i set mine too tight.

there is just no way to explain to someone what they are missing, you gotta just try one and be prepared for the surprise of your life.

often wonder just where the energy is going in a low tension blade/saw. vibration? wider cut (as a result of vib)? bouncing out of cut? all of the above? --Loren

They are awesome aren't they!! I have a couple of high tension hack saws. One Lennox, and one Stanley. A buddy was over the other day and wanted me to torch off a couple of

2"X2"X1/4" wall square tube, only he really wanted a clean square cut. No problem, clamp them in the vise and hack them off! He thought I was joking at first, till he saw how fast and accurate they will cut! Greg
