Machine Tool Stores in Portland OR?

Title says it all. I understand that the answer is probably "yer screwed", but I'm hoping to luck out.

I find myself in need of a 2mm reamer and probably the correct number drill to make the initial hole, and it'd be nice to get it today -- or even tomorrow, a Saturday.

I need to make one cruddy little flywheel for an electric motor made by furriners.

So, is there any place in or around PDX where I can waltz in, buy a 2mm reamer and a drill bit, and waltz out? Or do I just have to buy from McMaster and pay more for shipping than for the tool?

We've got Pac-West down here in Eugene, but I dunno if they have a branch up in P-town. In any case, good luck.

I would try Hall Tool or Palm Abrasive. McKinnon is close by the previous 2 stores. You might look in the phone book because I know there are a few other stores that escape me right now. I don't live in Portland now and haven't for sometime.

Well ... I don't know the Portland area, so I can't help with the possible sources.

But -- when I order from McMaster (or more often from MSC) I tend to order quite a few other things at the same time, but typically not that heavy, so the shipping remains pretty close to a constant, and thus less per item.

There are *always* things which I want which I can add to the order. :-)

Enjoy, DoN.

I am guessing that yes there is some machine shop supply stores in the Portland metro area.

A good old fashion telephone book is invaluable in these situations. My first guess would be in the listings for machine shop supply, and then make a few phone calls. If there is no such heading then look in the green pages that show what is listed where.

You can also get some info on line with directory services, but as a rule those suck.

Or call a machine shop and ask em about supply houses.

One could not be a successful Leftwinger without realizing that, in contrast to the popular conception supported by newspapers and mothers of Leftwingers, a goodly number of Leftwingers are not only narrow-minded and dull, but also just stupid. Gunner Asch
