Motor Starter Magnetic Contactor help needed

The following link is for a rather inexpensive (I think) motor starter/contactor. It is listed as 440 volt, 12 HP, but, further down the page there is the suggestion that it would run 220V, 6HP, 3 phase.

I have the following three phase motors. All are apprx. 2 hp. Milling machine, lathe and pedestal grinder. My power supply is a true utility supplied 3 phase.



Would these magnetic/contactors work with these smaller (2HP) motors? I would like to put them in line with the motors to obviate the machinery from coming back on after a power disruption is corrected. Am I on the wrong trail? Please educate me.

it says the coil is 440 volt. You'd have to replace that to use this contactor. Keep looking, should have no trouble finding a cheap contactor with a 110 or 220 coil. Contactors also have overloads. These are sized for your specific motor. I normally end up buying these as I got a pile o' old contactors and sort through to find one.

This is a 440v coil contactor. Uses 440v control voltage.

They will work great if you have 440v control voltage, which you probably do not.

I can sell you a bunch of size 0 contactors with 110v coils that will work great for you. I will warrantee each for 6 months. Price is $10 each.

The coil is 440 volt and would need to be changed out to operate on

220 volts. I have a slew of used small contactors with 220 VAC coils. For $20 I'll check the HP ratings and stuff 6 of them in a USPS flat rate box for you. No gurantees -- they were removed from equipment that I did a control retrofit on, so they were all working, but there are likely to be a couple buzzers in the lot.

the buzzing can be removed by fixing the one turn short ckt winding that is around the solonoid. IT is usually easy to see wrapped around the solonoid. Somewhere it has opened up. It keeps the core from saturating and buzzing.
