It's a 2007 Arctic Cat 650 and now I know why my neighbor gave it away ... so far I have about 6 or 700 bucks in parts into it . If I had to pay somebody to work on it I couldn't afford to keep it ! This time it's the starter system , the sprag clutch is locked up . And the starter has been spinning the whole time it's running and it has worn out the 2 idler/reduction gears and 2 starters . I haven't got the clutch unit disassembled yet , I don't have the correct bolts to attach a puller . I'll be picking those up tomorrow while I'm in town . There's only 2 things that could lock it up , damaged/worn rollers/carrier or the needle bearing in the hub . Parts cost for this repair look to be between 50 and a hundred bucks in addition to the gears and starter I have already purchased . Previously I have replaced front CV axles and suspension components , rear brake master cylinder and caliper and all brake pads , rear tires , the starter (2nd new one is on hand) steering shaft bushings , battery , fuel pump and intake boot , bought a winch and fabricated a mount for it . Here in The Holler we call this kind of multiple problems " being Zajacked" in honor of a neighbor who is famous for poor maintenance of his equipment .
