need aluminum welding done to fix rockwell mill

Jun 03, 2004 0 Replies

The vertical head on my rockwell mill uses a gear to tilt the head. There is a large aluminum gear that is keyed to the round ram which is turned by a worm gear. The large aluminum gear is broken right on the keyway. I would told that some people repair this my welding the gear together and cutting a new keyway. The head doesn't need full 360 degree rotation so a few missing teeth don't matter.

Can someone recommend a good welder in the chicago area that could do this. Specifically I live in the SW suburb of Naperville. thanks chuck
