Ok we almost never buy furnace filters (and we have three furnaces)... so I just got an idea... where can I direct Dad to buy say, 36 filters for the year? Or more?

The blue ones? The local hardware store should be able to order as many cases as you want. IIRC, filters come 12 to a case.
