There is a big difference between Iraq and Viet Nam Larry. When we pulled out of Nam the cong didn't come after us. When we pull out of Iraq they will continue the chase. They chased us into Baghdad and when we leave, so will they. Until then, we are their Red Team. They are taking the wonderful opportunity they have been given to study us and sharpen their operational skills, all at our expense. The ones we don't kill will be like MRSA. No known cure short of a near death dose of salts.

The Nipponese Surrender did NOT mean that hostilities were over - just the "Officially Sanctioned" armed phase of it.

The Military Occupation of Japan continued for years.

BTW, Japan is STILL waging war against the US - on the Economic Battlefield!

We...the Americans...didnt give Japan self government for 7 yrs AFTER they surrendered. And this from a nation that went American crazy shortly after they lost. Zoot suits, the whole encillada. And we kept troops there for well over 50 yrs. Same with Germany. We stayed in Germany for two reason..the #1 being we needed bases to counter the Russian threat, and because we well remembered that only 20 yrs earlier..Germany surrendered unconditionally, with strict restrictions on rebuilding their military machine. Which they did..in about 8 yrs total, when they decided to do so.

Just what do you mean by "Texas Oil" - you mean the various companies here that suck this state dry and our coast - buy you crying liberals that live and play on the coast keep them from using the oil leases they paid for ?!!

There isn't that much oil left in Texas - The East Texas field was tapped just about dry (they are drilling a few new wells now - hoping on the drip line) for WW II. It paid our way and fueled the Ships and planes and tanks and trucks... The Big and Little Inch was built (now more) from Texas to the East Coast - TAX free - no money for Texas or its' peoples - just lower rates than that in Texas next to the pump house. Political payola.

If products from other states are sold out - like iron ore or ... it is taxable in the sale. Just not Texas oil.

So Tell me What is 'Texas Oil and other Big interests' ?

But it won't work because according to your original premise comparing the deaths of British and American troops to murdered Californians the statistics prove it is far more dangerous to be a soldier in Iraq. So your whole point that the danger of being murdered in California is also high is simply wrong.
