I thought I sent this once before, but can't find my question. Has anyone had any experience with trying to rout aluminum (specifically hard aluminum like 6061T) with a woodworkers router?

I have cut with my circular saw & routed aluminium with my hand router,
6061T is not considered hard mat'l. As long as your blade or tooling is sharp it should cut like butter.Roger

It's been my experience that the harder alloys are more suitable for wood working routers that the softer more "gummy" varieties. There's less of a tendancy to "weld" AL to the cutter.
Ain't no law agin colletting an end mill in a router providing you stay below MOS.
People regularly use routers as the motor/spindle for cnc gantry mills. From what ive read the only big "concern" has to do with the low quality of the spindles. (Woodworking tools having highly accurate spindles would be a waste).
