Shaded pole motor question

Jul 16, 2004 1 Replies

Can I use a shaded pole motor that will turn on for 2-3 seconds and off for

2-3 seconds or will it burn-up? The torque demands are low and diminishing.

Should not be a problem. Most shaded pole motors have a locked rotor current is not much more than the full load current. In other words, they are self-protected in the stall condition by their inherent design.
