I'm building a belt grinder and using a tread mill motor. The motor has a speed control, but I'm wondering if I want to use it. Is variable speed useful on a belt grinder? At full speed I will have 6000 sfpm. So the question could be: are there any situations for which I'd want less than 6000 sfpm?
