I know, this is what I tell her. Problem is, she's just too damn nice. I don't think she'll do it. I think that's an excellent principle BTW.

Back to the story of the old codger who charged a dollar for making a mark and 999 for knowing where to put it. Gerry :-)} London, Canada
I have been working in the medical field for 30 years so this story is not the least bit surprising. I assume the "Peter Principle" was readily applied to hospital administators. I have never worked for any administration that had a clue as to what I contribute to patient care(although the term used at our hospital now is customer service).I say tell them good luck ,I`m sure you`ll find someone soon and smile and wave a backhanded goodbye. The average age of the Registered Medical Laboratory Technologist is 54. We have had 1 student intern in the past 5 years. I actually overheard a Doctor say in response to the future problem,"Well we can just send the labs out to a reference lab." How long to send a unit of crossmatched blood to the OR from halfway across the state? The biggest problem I see here is I will be of the age to be the patient in the OR.

You heard it here first.

ALL of the above and still quit ! Screw the sick people ( at least she should tell them that ) and tell them to FO. Up front cash should be expected and hold them off for a while if she is that nice and go off to her retirement.
They have been busted for dicking around , let them have it.
I had that happen , kinda once. The company came to me and said they are going to down size and that I'm laid off. The only other experienced employee got approached after I left and he played them big time. After a 2 hour dinner and all kinds of promises with him saying this was a great deal and he was waiting for them to get rid of me he told them to FO. Now they had nobody to make their $ !
I missed the staff meeting but the minutes show Sunworshipper wrote back on Thu, 16 Sep 2004 14:57:26 -0700 in rec.crafts.metalworking :
Bwahahahaha.
Reminds me of illustration from Systems Analysis class. Why you run the "new" system in parallel w/the old till the bugs are all worked out. Example was given of computerizing the accounting dept. Out with the old, in with the new, half the people quit/re fire, and half transfer to other departments. Miss Brown retires, and moves to Mexico. Six months later, company realizes they've goofed, want the old department back. Well, half the people are pissed off, half the people have found a 'better' situation, and Miss Brown? She has found Jesus and has no intention of leaving him at all.
..snip.....
My first IT job was another example. Hire data entry girls to transfer contents of motor vehicle spare parts stock control cards to new computerised system. Then run new and old in parallel for a WEEK!. "We were going to do a month, but it was too much work"
At this stage, anyone with any clue should have realised it wasn't going to fly.
All they had to do was do what I did after one weeks frustration when I inherited the mess - print out a stock list. 1,000,000 O rings must have been like a flashing red light with klaxon. About 25% of the stock was obviously in a similar state.
I guess I can claim it as a credit that I finally convinced the spare parts manager that the "suggested parts order" was usable, so long as you checked it against the list of parts sold (mainly to prove that the parts had been sold to the sp manager).
Revenge was knowing that when I was sacked (well, I rode a bicycle, didn't have a car licence, hated cars, wore string ties {:-) and definitely didn't fancy a career selling spare parts, but did know what a needle and seat was) that the "girl" I replaced temporarily wasn't coming back, that another 2 of the 3 office girls went on holiday and took the first jobs they found and that the "mate" I had gotten a stock take job for and who was my replacement was just as clueless as they were.
