I have been looking for the plans for a power hacksaw for ages without success.
I HATE hacksawing!!
I have tried to get a copy of the appropriate MEW magazine but it seems impossible here (Australia). I wonder would it be possible for you to copy the relevant pages and forward them to me - if so I can provide a UK address to receive them and they would then forward the info on to me here via airmail?? I would be pleased to cover any costs incurred - perhaps in UK stamps or something.
If you are agreeable perhaps you could contact me "off group" at my email address.
Thanks
Peter
Hi Tim, Why bother, you can buy a old Manchester for 50 quid. Regards Rotty

Re my previous post requesting a copy of the MEW plans - I have now arranged to receive some information from one of the respondents.
Thanks to all of those who replied so promptly - it is appreciated.

I did - I found that, in the case of my effort, "...it's not the fastest thing in the world...", as noted by Richard Wightman (the writer of the article). As an example, a piece of 1.0 inch x 0.25 inch MS plate took 9 minutes to cut. I am afraid that I was not enthusiastic enough to conduct a comparison check with the hand saw, but I am fairly sure it would have taken rather less time. I believe that the power provided by the w/screen wiper motor that I used was sufficient, as indicated by the fact that weighting of the frame to achieve an increased cutting performance to the stage where the blade becomes jammed, results in a bent blade. I would be interested to hear of anyone else's experience. Graeme Laing
