Christmas Edition MEW

Not impressed with the cover, nor the Arceurotrade advert. Also note the "smart...witty?" editorial comment about it on p10. Is this a sign of falling standards?

There are a lot of adverts in MEW I don't like the layout of but seeing as I'm not paying for them I feel that it's none of my business.

There is one that I won't name but it looks like a child has put it together from separate letters out of Sally's First Reader.

The only smart ? witty ? editorial I can see on page 10 says "Please note the lathe is not plugged in and there is no danger to the young lady "

Smart and witty ? well I suppose we all have differing standards but I can't ever see that making the Two Ronnie's and I imagine it was a tongue in cheek splat at the Flat Earth Society readers who complained about the picture on the cover of issue 122 but didn't complain about Mr Moore, complete with three piece sweet and a tie, bless you, on issue 94

The only way to measure standards in a magazine is two ways. One is by circulation figures and these are published so that [two] advertisers can see if it's worth advertising in them.

Now I know many people complain that mags are full of adverts but this is a yardstick of their success, more sales attracts more adverts.

Personally I like the adverts otherwise how would you know where to buy anything. Over the last year, with no exaggeration, I must have spent over £2,000 with various advertisers in MEW. Thank you Messrs Chronos, Arc, Warco, Chester, Machine DRO, Tracy Tools and others.
