Red vs green dremeloid grinding wheels ?

Hi,

I need to grind a TiN coated HSS milling cutter down a bit. I think I can make the shape I want by hand but wondered which colour grinding disks to use ? I have some green and some red/pink gridning disks from a cheap Dremel tool clone, any ideas which colour is intended for what purporse ? In the real world white grinding wheels would be for HSS, but I haven't got any of those.

Thanks,

Boo

The pink and white tend to be aluminium oxide (suitable for HSS). The green tend to be silicon carbide (better for brass or tungsten carbide, peculiarly).

Run at maximum possible speed in most cases to get sufficient surface speed.

Try the diamond wheels, they tend to work a lot better. They aren't expensive.
