Following on from his habitual, gratuitous and offensive remarks to me, I took exception to the condescending tone that Mr.Stevenson originated towards the young man, Milgo.
It is better to encourage youngster, especially when they exhibit the obvious enthusiasm of Milgo, and not to put them down by psychologically unsound sneering as did Mr. Stevenson.
As to the "Yah!, Boo!", etc, Mr.Stevenson was caught out.
I suggest that you look at the products now being sold by the ARC company (which also include small milling machines). I spoke to one of the proprietors at Bristol and suggested that he pay heed to this NG, but unfortunately these days there are many Internetters who know nothing of NG.
Mr Ellwood, you remain as childish and as biassed as the record of your previous postings in Google.
I _NEVER_ abused Mr.Stevenson, I only ever replied to his infantile ands silly outbursts, and only then to upbraid him for his childishness.. You will not find one remark originated by me. It was Mr.Stevenson who initiated infantile remarks to which I have never reciprocated.

Got my mill this afternoon. Wow! so much better than my existin
machine. I have cleaned it up and oiled it, still got a few bits tha need working on though. The motor mount provided is a bit off, totall different to others I have seen and I cant work out if I have mounte it correctly. I fastened the square bar to the spindle T slot the sam as taig themselves do, but with this mount it gets in the way of usin a drilling arbor. What do you guys think?

I do not have experience of your machine, but from the pictures you have posted something seems to be out of place. The pulley sheaves do not seem to line up correctly, thought this could be just a trick of the light! The motor also appears to be at an angle to the vertical axis, again this could be due to camera angle - but it does looh a bit excessive.
Perhaps you have a photograph or drawing from the manufacturer with whic you can compare it.
Eventually, when it is up and running - enjoy. :)

Motor should be to left of spindle when mounted, not in front. Also a good idea to generously radius the corners of the mounting plate.

Thats the problem...I don't have one to compare it to because peato
uses an itialian motor not used by taig themselves. Unlike the factor provided taig motor, this one has 4 mounting holes on its side rathe than on the spindle end. The motor is mounted to the side, but mor diagonal to the left. Also I havn't properly aligned everything becaus I was trying to work out the correct position, which would explain wh it looks wonky

Hi Steve,
I've followed Steve Blackmores advice and ditched the external supplies. This has shortened the distance between the PSU and the drivers which has solved the problem. No earth loop either.
The whole thing is built in a new box now with toroidal, bridge and capacitor, all star grounded to an M4 bolt which is within an inch of the power inputs to the Xylotex cards. The only thing I've added to that very basic mix is a 5V regulator so I don't introduce additional problems using 'power steal' from the PC (another potential loop problem?), and some LEDs to indicate +5V/+32V and fuse failure.
Initial testing last night was promising, no skipping steps or rogue reversing of direction. Runs very smoothly. When I finish work tonight I'll tidy it up, run some long duration tests, and take some pictures.
Milgo, I gather you are having problems with our resident troll ?
Fortunately I don't see any of his posts or replies any more. Myself and others on this list run a program called Newsblock which works like Mail washer in that it searches posts before downloading and deletes any with certain keywords in.
This is far better than a filter in that you don't see replies made my others.
If you want a copy please email me, it's still in beta but so far no one has reported and serious bugs with it

You seem to be somewhat mentally confused - you said that I was in your kill-file before the posting to which you responded below was posted.
I quite agree, but the disparaging comments directed at you by Mr.Stevenson were quite unacceptable (although in his habitual style) and could not be let to pass by without critique.
I wonder how Mr.Stevenson is able to make such a deduction if his brilliant news filter not only filters out those against whom he has made such an infantile fool of himself and now feels embarrassed about, but also filters out respondents?
As always, he puts finger to keyboard without employing thought!

Back on topic :) Do you guys suggest I use a shielded case to put all my components in? I am eyeing up a nice looking heatsink case at the moment.
