Clatherates

Can the Clatherates be used as an energy source or is there any potential or future to that resource in a global perspective?

I love it when people are not specific and ask generalized questions like this one. Clatherates have the potential for storing small gaseous molecules and releasing them on activation, they are also excellent for extending chemicals and chromophores and for ion exchange. Until someone finds a energy efficient method to cycle from storage to release without to much energy input these will be typically useful for the use mentioned. We are finding uses for these inorganics everyday.
