ProI data migration to PDMLink9.0 M060

May 15, 2009 1 Replies

Hi,

I am creating a utility to migrate the Pro/E data to PDMLInk. It does well in my development box but when I moved to production and real data start pumping in,I am encountering lot many of issues Suppose I want to migrate 500 CAD objects 1st

1> While upload the CAD object to PDMLInk, it checks existing objects and some would be new. When I try to upload, it gives conflicts.
2> When I will move the 2nd set of 500 objects, some of them I will get ghost object which I will create dummy and some of them would be already existing objects which I have to check out, update and then upload so that the existing one will be updated by the object in new
500 object set.
3> now if the object in 1st 500 set was latest revision and in 2nd set, the object is old revision. when I'll try to update it ,it does and update the latest with the old revision. Or will give error message/conflict.

so whats the best way to import the CAD objects to PDMLink WS from Pro/ E embedded browser.

Thanks for the help in advance, Manish

Hi,

Why aren't you using the migration utilities that come with PDMLink? They don't present any of the difficulties you are outlining. so whats the best way to import the CAD objects to PDMLink WS from Pro/ E embedded browser.

The embedded browser in Pro/e has nothing to do with migrating data into PDMLink. PTC offers migration support and training. Sounds like you could use some.
