Well I don't know about that. However, NASA occasionally have problems converting between imperial and metric units; whereas Ariane is a pretty reliable rocket.
Metric is the way to go.

NASA needs to metricate more but remember that NASA is one of the most pro-metric organisations in the US. The official report said that the NASA Mars Climate Orbiter was lost because Lockheed failed to use metric units as specified by NASA.
