sensors - pc interface

Hello,I know that maybe this will be a newbie question, but anyway here itgoes. I want to get data from ultrasound and infrared sensors in astandard PC. I know that one way of connecting them is by using theparallel port, but this is not a good aproach for me.What are the mostly used solutions? Maybe using a board like OOPic,Basic Stamp or something similar?Thank you for your help

Ayup.

I use a Mini-ITX board for my robot (Groucho). I just connected the serial port to an AVR programmer and I just used the various Linux tools to reprogram the MAVRIC-IIB.
